Phani Kumar Bhogaraju is the Sr. Director of  Engineering at Groupon (NASDAQ: GRPN), and leads the Local Platform Engineering teams in Bangalore. Groupon offers a vast mobile and online marketplace where people discover and save on amazing things to do, see, eat and buy.

A passionate technologist, Kumar leads multiple teams that work on large-scale high throughput services at Groupon. His team leverages and industrializes concepts in micro-services architecture, high availability infrastructure, and resilient software design.  

Prior to joining Groupon, Kumar worked as Head of Engineering at LivingTree, where he led mobile and platform teams to build a contextual social network on the cloud, using cutting edge technologies.
Kumar was also an entrepreneur, he founded Unosoft Technologies, a CSEZ based Export Oriented Unit (EOU), where he built a rules based analytical platform for sports. Prior to Unosoft, Kumar  worked in the US, for several manufacturing and internet companies such as Whirlpool, Cooper Tires, 21st Century Telecom and RCN.
